In high school he was introduced to the Kansas City Renaissance Festival, and fell in love with the concept of living historical theater. In the course of his experiences with the faire he has played all manner of roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>     <strong>N<\/strong>ow he has combined two of his favorite hobbies by performing magic at renaissance festivals. In 1999 Matt replaced the previous performer and became the Dr. Goodhands Magic Show for the 1999 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"366\" height=\"443\" src=\"https:\/\/pastmagic.biz\/marvelousmatt\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/shadow.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-415\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pastmagic.biz\/marvelousmatt\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/shadow.jpg 366w, https:\/\/pastmagic.biz\/marvelousmatt\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/shadow-248x300.jpg 248w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 366px) 100vw, 366px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>     <strong>H<\/strong>e returned in 2000 under his own name, &#8220;Matthew the Magician&#8221;, and for the 2001 season was scheduled on the all new &#8220;Robin Hood Adventure Stage&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>     <strong>2<\/strong>005 brought Matthew the opportunity to team up with veteran fire eater\/magician Rod Sipe (aka Dr. Dumpe), a 30+ year veteran of the Kansas City Renaissance Festival. In addition to magic and illusion, Matthew expanded his performance experience by escaping from a strait jacket while suspended upside down, 12 feet above the stage as the finale to each of 5 daily shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"343\" height=\"279\" src=\"https:\/\/pastmagic.biz\/marvelousmatt\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/straitjacket.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-416\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pastmagic.biz\/marvelousmatt\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/straitjacket.jpg 343w, https:\/\/pastmagic.biz\/marvelousmatt\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/straitjacket-300x244.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 343px) 100vw, 343px\" \/><figcaption>Escaping from the straitjacket while suspended 12&#8242; above the stage.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>     <strong>F<\/strong>urther years also brought Matt to sideshow stunts such as Walking on a Bed of Broken Glass, the Human Blockhead and even attempting Fire Eating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>     <strong>E<\/strong>ven with these new stunts, Matt&#8217;s love has always been magic and in 2013 he returned to the stage as <strong>Marvelous Matt <\/strong>with his own show at the Wizards Tower.
